Background Check

Greetings to you,

Hello from Portland!  We hope everything is going well and that God is blessing you in your ministries.  We are asking this year, if you are planning on attending the Portland Youth Conference, that you have every adult sponsor coming with you 20 years of age or older, have a background check.  Due to the increasing risks our students are facing, we want to ensure the parents that we are doing everything in our power to protect their children.  It will be much too difficult for us to check every sponsor when they get here, so we would appreciate it if each leader would take that responsibility and complete that for their group.
We don’t need you to bring the actual background checks with you to the rally.  All we need is a list of the people that have been checked and a simple pass next to their name.  We understand this might cause more work for you, but we believe the safety of our students is worth it! 
If you don’t know how to go about this process, we have used a company named CRIS (Criminal Information Services Inc.).  Their number is 1(800) 973-5500.  We used the “Super Search” which is a check of the national database.  We have found them to be reasonably priced.  If you have used another company, that’s fine.  This is just one option of many.
